Photograph of a police tank firing salvos of CS tear gas as chemical weapons against demonstrators during anti-government protest battle in Seoul, South Korea. The vehicle truck is especially designed to shoot canisters of choking CS teargas and to suppress dissent and demonstrations. The extensive and indiscriminate use of CS teargas in ROK was unpopular with many citizens. Protestors often respond to the tear gas attacks with rocks and flaming Molotov Cocktails. The anti-government protests of 1987 eventually toppled regime of authoritarian dictator Chun Doo-Hwan. Photograph by Nathan Benn taken June 22, 1987.
